I specialize in anxiety, OCD, and couples issues, including marriage counseling and intimacy problems. I am the most direct and goal-oriented therapist at this practice. If you are looking for a therapist who can help guide you over the long term, we have wonderful therapists here who are very skilled at that. I’m the kind of guy who will get to know you over several sessions, and then assertively address the problems that you want to address. My identity is based on the idea that I can end or mostly end problems that most other therapists can’t. I take a lot of pride in my skill and knowledge, and I take success in therapy very seriously.

On that note – I try to help my clients not take things seriously, unless it is appropriate to do so. I use humor frequently, and I am very informal in my approach. To me, professionalism is about being highly ethical, knowing what you are doing, and putting in effort. It’s not about being overly serious, proper, or pretentious. I won 7 straight pie eating contests before those bastards stopped having them. If you find one, please tell me. I’m preparing to start an original rock band. I played roller hockey before I got old. I will use bad words in session sometimes. Most of the other therapists here will not. I believe that it is important to find a therapist who is the right fit for you.  Fee and Insurance

I charge $175 a session, which is on the low end of the range for Psychologists in the Richmond area. I don’t like the pressure that comes with charging $250 an hour. I accept Anthem and almost all other Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, as well as Tricare. If I am not in your insurance network, our office will file your out-of-network claims so you don’t have to.
