Jenny Heatwole, MSW
Supervisee in Clinical Social Work

I graduated with my Master’s in Social Work in May of 2024 and am currently receiving supervision to gain my Clinical Social Work license. I work with adults and teens (ages 12 and up), specializing in complex trauma, anxiety, and chronic overthinking. My focus is on helping clients regain control of their present lives, enabling them to move past the discomfort caused by past events. While my approach is evidence-based, it is also compassionate, which allows clients to feel both understood and supported while learning practical skills to change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior.

I have been described as approachable, warm, and genuine—qualities I incorporate into my therapeutic practice. I place a strong emphasis on building a therapeutic relationship based on safety, trust, and collaboration. Often, daily life can cloud our perspective, whether it’s due to external pressures, stress, or major life changes. In these instances, my role is to provide a safe, supportive, and trustworthy environment where clients can gain a clearer and more accurate view of their world.

I have experience working with individuals impacted by childhood and adult abuse, intimate partner violence, substance use, and teens in out-of-home placements or at risk of suspension or expulsion. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients move forward, rather than being stuck in the past. I also incorporate components of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to address symptoms of distress and navigate significant life changes.

Personal:

In my spare time I can be found listening to music or attending a local concert or festival. I have a large record collection and enjoy playing the piano and guitar. I enjoy eating new foods and am slowly learning how to cook a delicious meal for myself at home without burning anything. If successful, my giant schnoodle puppy Ozzy (named after Ozzy Osbourne) enjoys my leftovers. Whether food, music, or cuddly animals, I love anything that brings people together.
