My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which I have been practicing for more than fifteen years. I am supportive, non-judgmental, and collaborative. Together we will explore the obstacles that you are facing and I will assist you in developing new ways to overcome them. I am well-suited to both short-term, solution-focused therapy and long-term, exploratory counseling. I have been part of this practice since 2016.

I help adolescents, teens, and adults navigate difficult life circumstances including trauma, grief, divorce, bullying, major life transitions, relationship issues, stress from school and work, and addictions. My experience spans some very demanding settings, including several years in acute crisis stabilization running multiple groups daily with clients experiencing depression and acute anxiety, intensive in-home counseling with children and families, directing a crisis stabilization facility serving clients with developmental delays and psychiatric diagnoses, and more than five years as a counselor for community health service boards in both rural and city settings. I no longer work with children or young adolescents.

Personal:

I grew up in the Richmond area and miss living there. Outside of work I stay busy trying to keep up with my young children, playing guitar, listening to classic rock and folk music, reading, spending time outdoors, and drinking far too much coffee.
